On Saturday, more than two million people were playing Among Us, a popular social deduction game (May 29). The increase in player count comes after Epic Games offered the game free until June 3 as part of their mega sale. The game was released in 2018 by InnerSloth, but it only achieved significant popularity last year during the coronavirus-induced epidemic. The popular game also has cross-platform multiplayer and is accessible on a variety of platforms, with PlayStation and Xbox consoles coming shortly.
According to Victoria Tran (@TheVTran), community director at InnerSloth, the game had a daily player count of 350,000 before Epic Games made it free during the Mega Sale. Another tweet from Tran reveals that on the weekend of May 29, the player count surpassed 2 million. The player count only displays PC gamers, according to the tweets. It also mentions that the increase in player count occurred as a result of most current players from other platforms attempting the game on PC. The long weekend in the United States may have influenced the player count, giving it a slight lift.
During Epic Games’ Mega Sale, Among Us will be available for free for a week. Each week, one mystery game will be given away for free as part of the sale. The game is normally available for Rs. 119 on the Epic Games Store. Users may get a $10 voucher (Rs. 750 voucher in India) by simply checking in to the website during the Mega Sale. Customers will receive another similar offer if they use the voucher on any game that costs $14.99 (approximately Rs. 1,100).
Among Us will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 systems later this year, according to InnerSloth and PlayStation. Xbox also stated that the game would be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S in the near future. With cross-platform multiplayer compatibility, Among Us is now available on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, and Windows.
