The OnePlus 9RT is expected to be released in India and China in October. According to a recent rumour, the Chinese manufacturer is developing a new smartphone for its ‘T’ series. With the OnePlus 8 series, the firm took a new approach and only produced one model, the OnePlus 8T. Now, it appears to be doing the same with the OnePlus 9 series, albeit it will allegedly be based on the OnePlus 9R. Some specs for the OnePlus 9RT variant have also been leaked.
According to rumours, the OnePlus 9T will not be released this year. The OnePlus T series of smartphones is generally a modified version of the firm’s flagship series, and with the OnePlus 8 lineup, the company chose to stay with just one T series phone – the OnePlus 8T.
According to a fresh rumour from Android Central citing insider sources, the next phone in the T series will be the OnePlus 9RT, which will be released in October for the Indian and Chinese markets. It will be a modified version of the OnePlus 9R, which is the OnePlus 9 series’ lowest option, as the name indicates. In terms of specs, the OnePlus 9RT is said to include the same 120Hz AMOLED display as the OnePlus 9R, 65W fast charging capabilities, a 4,500mAh battery, and a “higher-binned version of the Snapdragon 870.” In terms of optics, the OnePlus 9RT is expected to have the same 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor as the OnePlus Nord 2.
On the software front, the rumour claims that it will be the first OnePlus phone to ship with OxygenOS 12 out of the box, which is based on Android 12. More ColorOS features will be added, including floating resizable windows, a theme shop, and ColorOS’ Private Safe.
Google’s new Material You design is believed to be absent from OxygenOS 12.
Furthermore, according to the source, OnePlus had hoped to have launched a closed beta of OxygenOS 12 by now, but a slew of problems in the build prevented this. The entire software team is reportedly trying to repair the issues and distribute the close beta to testers by the end of the month.
